Recent Testimonial from Janet J

I am a senior citizen and go to Oak Lodge regularly for the treatment and alleviation of long standing back problems. The gentle manipulation techniques used help to maintain my level of fitness and activity, and keep me free of pain and discomfort. In addition, he has successfully treated my husband and many of my friends.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of conditions that are due to problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves of the body, particularly those of the spine.

Treatment consists of a wide range of adjustment techniques designed to improve the function of the joints, relieving pain and muscle spasms.

The effectiveness of chiropractic treatment is supported by research as well as by various UK government and medical organisations, including The National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). International research has underpinned the development of the profession which has come from both within and outside of the chiropractic research communities

What is McTimoney Chiropractic?

McTimoney is a unique system of chiropractic that is an effective whole body therapy which helps to reduce pain from a variety of joint problems. The McTimoney chiropractic techniques rely on very fast, light movements to adjust the skeletal system. The McTimoney method is recognised as being a gentle, precise approach which assesses the whole body and treats the whole person – not just the area where the pain is felt (treating the cause and not just the symptoms). The treatment is suitable for most people of all ages and is effective in treating the following conditions:

General acute and chronic backache, including lumbago.

Sciatica – a combination of highly specific manual techniques followed by a rehabilitation exercise programme is used for this often very painful condition.

Joint pain, including hip and knee pain from arthritis as an addition to core medical treatment and exercise.

Mechanical neck pain.

General aches and pains.

Minor sports injuries.

Muscle spasms.

Shoulder complaints (dysfunction, disorders and pain).

Soft tissue disorders of the shoulder including rotator cuff injuries.

Elbow pain including tennis/golfer’s elbow (epicondylitis) arising from associated muscular conditions.

Headaches arising from neck problems.

General joint pains.

Inability to relax.

Ankle sprains (short term management).

Plantar fasciitis (short term management).
